Can this be added to permanent roofline lighting later?
Yes, and it is worth planning both at once even if you only buy one now — we size the transformer and route the conduit for what you might add, which is far cheaper than trenching a mature garden twice.
Will it survive being snowed on and plowed around?
The fixtures are rated for it and we set them back from where snow gets pushed. We also mark the runs, so that whoever clears your drive in February is not guessing.
