Built with you, not handed to you
How pricing works
Visualization — not a photograph of a completed job.
Every job here is priced on its own. Not because we are being cagey — because the honest inputs really are different at every address: the length and shape of your roofline, how many stories the crew is working at, how far around you want to go, where you are on the route, and when in the season you book.
So we would rather understand your system and what you are actually picturing, and then build the number with you. Start with the designer — it takes about a minute, it shows you exactly what we would do at three levels, and nobody has to stand in your driveway for you to see it.
Five questions. No address, no phone number, nothing to unsubscribe from.
What we look at
Stories
The single biggest one, because it decides ladder or lift. A second story does not double the run — it adds an upper line that costs more per foot to reach than the one below it.
Roofline
Peaks and dormers add run without adding width. It is why two houses with the same frontage get very different numbers, and it is the part nobody explains.
How far around you go
Most people light what the street sees. Going down the sides or all the way around is a choice, not an upsell, and you should be able to see what it changes.
Where and when
Where you sit on the route, and how early in the season you book. Both are real costs and both are things you can actually influence, which is why we tell you about them.
The price book
Published, because almost nobody in this trade does. Every band below is a real range from a measured design — where a row has no number yet, it says how it is quoted instead of guessing at one.
| Service | Utah price | What it covers |
|---|---|---|
| Holiday lights — roofline, first season | $4.50–$7.50 / ft | Custom-cut commercial LED, clips, timer and cord included. We own the lights; you are not buying a box of them. |
| Holiday lights — renewal season | $2.75–$5.00 / ft | The same roofline, already measured and already cut. Roughly 70–80% of the first season. |
| Install only — your own lights | $2.00–$3.25 / ft | Labour only, and we will say plainly what we cannot warranty on hardware we did not supply. |
| Wrapped tree — small / medium / large | $85–$150 · $175–$400 · $350–$1,000 | Anything over about thirty feet needs a lift, which is a scheduled day rather than a surcharge we spring on you. |
| Wreath — 36" / 48" / 60" | $95–$225 · $225–$300 · $300–$400 | Hung, serviced, removed and stored with your runs. |
| Garland — unlit / lit | $8–$12 / ft · $15–$28 / ft | Railings, columns and entries. |
| Off-season storage | $150–$400 / yr | Labelled by run, in your kit, ready to go back up in the same order it came down. |
| Smallest job we can take | $450–$550 | Below this the drive time, the prep, the takedown and the service reserve are not covered — so quoting under it would mean cutting one of them later. |
| Permanent architectural lighting | Quoted | Installed, warrantied, app-controlled. Priced by the foot from a measured design — no published band yet. |
| Takedown only (someone else installed) | Quoted | You do not have to be our customer. We will still come. |
| Landscape & path lighting | Quoted | Quoted after an after-dark walk of the property. |
| Gutter cleaning | Quoted | Photographed before and after. Bundled free on some memberships. |
| Snow removal — residential | Quoted | Seasonal agreements available; members get priority dispatch. |
| Ice dam steaming | Quoted | Steamed, never chipped or salted onto your shingles. |
Who owns the lights
We buy the hardware, cut it to your house, and own it while you lease it down. In the third season it becomes yours. You can stop after any season — we would rather tell you that here than have you find it in a clause.
| Season | Typical | Who owns them | Why |
|---|---|---|---|
| Season 1 | $1,090 | We own them | Install plus maintenance. You are not buying a box of lights up front. |
| Season 2 | $890 | We own them | About 80% of the first season — the hardware is already bought and already cut to your house. |
| Season 3 | $790 | They become yours | Title transfers to you at the end of this season. Nothing to sign, nothing to claim. |
| Season 4 on | $790 | Yours | Rate locked. You own the lights; we store, maintain and hang them. |
Figures are a typical two-storey roofline with a couple of wrapped trees and a wreath — yours comes off your own measurements.
When you book changes what you pay
| When | Effect | Why it works that way |
|---|---|---|
| Booked by September 1 | 15% off labour | You are filling the part of the calendar nobody else wants, so you get paid for it. |
| Booked by November 7 | 10% off labour | Still early enough that your date is a choice rather than whatever is left. |
| Booked in December | +$2 per foot | The last two weeks are the most expensive days of the year to staff, and pretending otherwise is how companies miss Christmas on the jobs they already sold. |
| At booking | 50% deposit | It is a scheduling requirement more than a payment — the deposit is what reserves your crew day and buys your hardware before the season starts. |
What is never a line item
Takedown, in-season service calls, and replacement bulbs. Those are in the price. A takedown priced separately is a takedown that is easy to skip, and skipping it is the most common complaint in this trade.
When we do quote you
It comes from a measured design, with the takedown date already in it — both dates go into the agreement at the same time, before any deposit. And it is itemised against the things above, so you can see which part of your roof drove it. A quote you cannot take apart is a quote you should refuse, from us or from anyone.
